As you will see, ’Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport’ is actually the closest airport to the Amalfi Coast. However, it is not the most used airport by visitors!

The two major International airports that are the most commonly used for the Amalfi Coast are:

  • Naples-Capodichino International Airport (NAP)
  • Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO)

Both Naples and Rome are probably the best choice for most people arriving by air, as they have the most flights and a good transport network in place. Several of the other airports are much smaller and do not offer as many options in terms of flights and will be harder to get from without hiring a car. However, if you are flying into any of the smaller airports in the region for for other reasons, then you should certainly consider taking a trip to the coast.

The airport is located approximately 13 miles (21 kilometers) from Salerno itself, close to Bellizzi and Pontecagnano Faiano.

However, although Salerno is the closest airport in the region of the Amalfi Coast the airport does not have a large number of flights. Another common option for visitors is to fly into Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO). Rome Fiumicino Airport is much further away and takes nearly 4 hours by car but the flights into Rome can often be much cheaper. As a result of the flights being cheaper nto Rome, it may be worth considering.

Although Naples is much further from the Amalfi Coast than Salerno, it is the most popular airport with travellers. Naples Airport is the gateway to the Amalfi Coast, as it provides easy access to many towns and resorts in the region.

Another reason why Naples-Capodichino International Airport is a popular choice is simply because a large number of airlines now fly there. There are now a large number of flights into Naples Airport, from major countries throughout the world.
