What Is Urbino Italy Known For

Urbino, is best known for its 15th Century Palazzo Ducale, home to the National Gallery of the Marche. The National Gallery also displays the paintings from one of Italy’s most famous painters Raffaello Sanzio (Raphael), who was born in Urbino. In the early days, Urbino was recognised as being one of the cultural capitals of Renaissance throughout Italy. Today, Urbino is still seen as a place to visit for its works of art, old historic architecture and monuments.

There are public buses that run from both Pesaro and Fano to Urbino, which take under an hour and are quite cheap.

The closest Airport to Urbino is Rimini Airport, which is approximately 57 Kilometers (35 Miles) from Urbino. Driving from Rimini International Airport to Urbino, take around one hour, depending on traffic. There are several other airports to which you can fly into, for Urbino but they are a little further away and they are:Ancona Airport or Marche Airport, as it is also known (AOI): 87 Kilometers (54 Miles)

Forli Airport (FRL): 112 Kilometers (70 Miles), approximately one and a half to two hours drive to Urbino.

Bologna Airport (BLQ): 179 Kilometers (111 Miles) and is approximately a two hour drive to Urbino.
